v1.0.1 – v1.0.4 · 2026 年 7 月
Android
- 加入测试群组(点一下即可,无需审批):groups.google.com/g/shellbytestergroup
- 打开 opt-in 链接接受邀请:play.google.com/apps/testing/me.mahui.mshell
HarmonyOS NEXT

v1.1.1 · August 2026
A round of stability and polish fixes — no new features.
- Keys & credentials: RSA private key import completed — classic PKCS#1 supported and public keys derived from the private key for real; private keys are now always stored as OpenSSH PEM, fixing binary keys being corrupted by sync; new "re-push credentials to iCloud Keychain" in Settings for when another device is missing them; credentials carried over from older versions are normalised automatically
- Terminal: fixed terminals filling only a corner of the window after reconnecting (vim, htop and other full-screen programs); on iPhone and iPad you can now scroll back through history during continuous output such as tail -f; steadier Mosh-compatible connections — fixed stalls caused by out-of-order packets being discarded as replays, and spurious "link interrupted" warnings on a healthy link; Mosh-compatible sessions keep no scrollback (a protocol limitation), explained the first time you scroll up
- AI Agent: replies render as Markdown instead of raw ** and backticks; approval cards stay fully readable — long commands and rationales scroll inside the card, destructive commands get a "view full command" link; adding a follow-up task in the same conversation regenerates the plan
- iPhone UI: the terminal's top bar follows your terminal theme's light/dark, with the status bar and keyboard matching; SSH / Mosh-compatible badges on tabs are far easier to read
- Sync: fixed duplicate host rows reappearing after removal, via iCloud
v1.1.0 · August 2026
Our biggest update since launch: Mosh-compatible connections, third-party sync, and a refreshed UI across all three devices.
- Mosh-compatible connections: switch from Wi-Fi to 5G, ride an elevator, go through a tunnel — the session stays alive and picks up where it left off; typing stays smooth on slow, high-latency links. No mosh-server on the box? The connection test detects it and offers install instructions for your distro
- Third-party sync: sync hosts, keys, snippets, AI settings and chats across devices via your own WebDAV or S3-compatible storage — your data never touches anyone else's server; pair by scanning a QR code on iPhone (or picking the image from Photos) and importing it on Mac; Sync is now a top-level Settings section
- Navigation & UI: brand-new three-column layout on Mac / iPad; native tab bar on iPhone, with live terminal previews on session cards; files, monitor and AI slide in from the right inside a session; Mac gains a full native menu bar, shortcuts and window toolbar
- Snippets & terminal: new command toolbar above the terminal — run, insert or copy a snippet in one tap; snippet library redesigned with shell syntax highlighting, line numbers and review-before-run; tunnels can now be edited and deleted; ⌘K clears the terminal locally
- SFTP: downloads join the transfer queue with a choice of destination and more reliable resume; drag & drop upload on Mac; system notification when background transfers finish
- AI agent (bring your own key): custom command allow/deny lists, with one-tap "approve & allowlist"; sudo password prompts supported; the agent suspends on disconnect and resumes when you're back
- Stability: fixed a rare crash, credentials not reaching other devices over iCloud, a keychain edge case that could lose saved passwords, and iCloud sync being silently switched off; a strong warning when a host's key fingerprint changes
v1.0.5 · July 2026
Every improvement in this release comes from feedback by @break on V2EX — thank you.
- AI panel: message text is selectable, with a one-tap copy button on every reply
- AI panel: command output is shown in full — no more truncation
- AI panel: resizable width — drag the panel's left edge on Mac, the divider on iPad
- Terminal: new "Copy on Select", iTerm-style — selected text goes straight to the clipboard (Mac, Settings ▸ Terminal)
- AI panel: file-write diff previews can expand to show all changes
- Fixed: the host-fingerprint prompt could appear behind the New Host form or the Tunnels panel
Also shipping in this release:
- iPhone & iPad: fixed the garbled display when searching and scrolling in vim and other full-screen programs
- Mac: hold a letter key to repeat it — press-and-hold scrolls continuously in vim, less and friends
- Sturdier AI agent, SSH and terminal sessions; refreshed Mac app icon
v1.0.1 – v1.0.4 · July 2026
Quick fixes and polish during launch week.
v1.0.0 · July 2026
First release: SSH terminal, SFTP, port forwarding & tunnels, server monitoring, AI Agent, iCloud sync (macOS on Jul 7, iOS on Jul 13).
Android · Closed beta
The Android edition shares its Flutter codebase with the HarmonyOS build. It is in closed testing on Google Play, not officially released yet; release entries will start here once it ships.
How to join (takes a minute)
- Join the tester group (one click, no approval needed): groups.google.com/g/shellbytestergroup
- Open the opt-in link and accept the invite: play.google.com/apps/testing/me.mahui.mshell
- Install from Google Play and use it as normal: Play Store page
Before you start
- The Google account you join the group with must be the same account signed in to the Play Store on your phone. This is the most common pitfall — join with account A while your phone runs account B, and the opt-in page will keep saying you're not a tester.
- Membership doesn't take effect instantly. Syncing to Play can take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour or so. If the opt-in page says it isn't active yet, wait and try again — don't rush to uninstall and reinstall.
- One ask: stay in the test programme — and keep the app installed — for 14 days. Google counts "at least 12 testers enrolled for 14 consecutive days", so the more people stay in, the safer we are against dropouts.
Requirements: an Android phone (8.0+) with access to Google Play. Feedback goes to shellby@appsupport.mahui.me; prefer to wait for the release? Leave your email on the homepage for a launch notice.
HarmonyOS NEXT
Live on Huawei AppGallery for phone and tablet: get it here. The HarmonyOS build shares its Flutter codebase with Android and versions independently from the Apple edition.
v1.1.6 · August 2026
A focused fix pass on port forwarding (tunnels).
- Tunnels recover on their own: the system suspends the app in the background and tunnels pause with it — they now reconnect when you return, instead of needing a manual stop and start
- Honest tunnel status: connecting / running / disconnected are shown separately, and the reason for a disconnect stays on the row — no more "running" that will not connect
- Rules grouped by host, with addresses and ports in a monospaced font so ownership and mapping read at a glance
- Fixed: editing a rule whose host had been deleted crashed the app; such rules are now labelled "host no longer exists" with the start button disabled
- Unfolded and split-screen layouts: noticeably more room for the terminal, with far less wrapping in command output
- Key fingerprints in a monospaced font, easier to verify against the server
v1.1.5 · August 2026
Polish pass following the first HarmonyOS release.
- Scan to import a pairing code — opens the system scanner; you can also pick a photo from the album inside it
- Fixed: recognising a pairing code from an image always failed
- Fixed: importing an SSH private key was rejected as "invalid format", and larger key files were truncated
- App icon rebuilt to the HarmonyOS layered-icon spec — no longer clipped on the home screen; no more white flash on cold start in dark mode
- Smaller install size
v1.1.4 · August 2026
The first HarmonyOS release.
- SSH terminal: multiple sessions, colour themes, adjustable font size, and reusable command snippets
- SFTP: browse remote directories, upload and download with resumable transfers
- Port forwarding: local / remote / dynamic SOCKS5 with multi-hop jump hosts, for reaching your own servers and internal services
- Server monitoring: CPU, memory, disk, load and processes at a glance
- Key management: generate or import keys and inspect fingerprints
- App lock: optional biometric unlock, verified entirely on device
- Multi-device sync: opt-in, end-to-end encrypted through your own WebDAV or S3 storage — nothing passes through our servers
